Israel is turning 70 and we are having a party! Join us as we take a trip around the country and encounter the culture, food, people and music of our Jewish homeland. You’ll experience the best of different areas of Israel including making orange juice on a kibbutz, tasting hummus at the shuk, or having a Tel Aviv-style dance party. Don’t forget to get your “passport” stamped at each station! A parade and “Hatikvah” (Israel’s national anthem) sing-along will be led by the Shalom School students and the evening will also include a light Israeli-style dinner, complete with birthday cake, to celebrate Israel’s birthday. We'll be led in singing “Happy Birthday” and “Yom Huledet Sameach” by the JEA preschool students.
The party will be followed by our guest speaker, Dr. Itzhak Brook. He served in the Israeli army as a medic in the Six Day War in 1967 and as a battalion physician during the Yom Kippur war in 1973. After retiring from the Israeli army, Dr. Brook served in the medical corps of the U.S. Navy for 27 years. In addition to teaching, publishing countless publications in scientific journals and ten textbooks, Dr. Brook is a speaker for the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. on the Yom Kippur War. There is no charge for those who are only attending Dr. Brook’s presentation.
