An Open Letter to Senators Ossoff and Warnock:
The Savannah Jewish Federation was disappointed to see Senators Warnock and Ossoff vote to block arms to Israel.
At a time when Israel is fighting an existential battle on multiple fronts, the attempt to limit arms further emboldens terrorist actors and weakens America’s position on the world’s stage. It also contradicts the many statements in support of Israel made by both Senators.
We do not have to tell the Senators that anti-Semitism is experiencing a meteoric rise, and we fear this vote will further embolden those who wish to harm the Jewish community here in Georgia and around the world.
At the Savannah Jewish Federation, we join the Senators in wishing for a swift end to this war, and a lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians, but we know that peace can only come with the return of the hostages and a destruction of Iran funded terrorist groups.
Unfortunately, this vote did not advance any of those wishes.
