June 6th at 1pm

There are now tests for more than 25 diseases of concern to people of Jewish heritage. The Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium (JGDC), a New York-based organization, will present a thoughtful educational and outreach session that highlights the role carrier screening plays in the prevention of genetic diseases. Through their videos, discussion and handouts, they will help you understand what Jewish genetic diseases are, what it means to be a carrier, and what couples can do to maximize their chances of having healthy children.

The event will feature a panel of local Medical professionals including Dr. Dina Linfoot, Ashley Allen, M.S. Genetic Disease Counselor, as well as Dr. Rebecca Usadi of Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Shari Ungerleider, Project Coordinator of the JGDC and Randy Yudenfriend Glaser, JGDC Chair, who will moderate the sessions.

This event is a service of the Jewish Educational Alliance and Savannah Jewish Federation Jewish Family Services This program is Free and open to the public.
